Depending on their profile, age-group and level, the administration and their teachers will guide students to the curriculums best suited to them: Classical, Contemporary or Jazz (please refer to the “Variety of Styles” section for more details).

In-House Curriculum

The Musical Expression Institute curriculum has been carefully developed by Philippe El Hage. It is based on curriculums followed and adopted by prestigious conservatories in Europe.

Its main goal is to gradually instill a mastery of the instrument in beginners, achieved by tackling different styles of music and by finding enjoyment in the learning process. The curriculum also allows more advanced students to prepare for ABRSM exams or for competitive entrance exams to conservatories or music academies abroad.

In addition to instrumental courses, theory lessons are taught in Musical Expression Institute for students who wish to learn more about music theory, solfeggio, jazz theory and harmony. Such courses are regularly posted on the bulletin board and website and group together students of the same level.

For those interested, we also offer Master classes and specialized trainings with teachers and musicians invited on occasion to share their experience with our students.

The Musical Expression Institute certificate can be obtained in the Classical, Contemporary or Jazz categories, based on the student’s annual attendance and final exam grades. The final exam consists of a performance by the student, graded by a highly qualified committee of music teachers headed by Philippe El Hage.
